NYC Media Lab welcomes 11 new startups to the City’s media and technology innovation community

At any given moment in entrepreneur-fueled New York City, a startup is being conceived, launched or incubated. At The CombineNYC Media Lab’s accelerator program for early-stage startup teams focused on emerging technologies—a community of faculty, students, entrepreneurs, media executives and technologists have created a ‘spinoff engine’, a community where media technologies from NYC universities can be commercialized.

On Friday, April 13th at The Greene Space, the 11 startups that comprise the 2018 Combine cohort will present their companies, the culmination of 12-weeks of participating in an intensive market validation and customer discovery curriculum led by NYC Media Lab. Teams built innovative use cases for emerging technologies like virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence and blockchain.

The Combine is a unique accelerator program for New York City—each team has emerged from the City’s university ecosystem, with team members from NYU, Cornell Tech, The New School, Columbia University, CUNY and more. NYC Media Lab Combine focuses on providing fresh talent from universities with the curriculum and resources needed to excel.

The Demo Day provides an opportunity to talk to the students, faculty, industry mentors and investors that have been part of the Combine. Learn more about the teams below, and visit the Combine Portfolio page to learn about alumni teams.
